How long do Car Tires Last?
Your tires are arguably the most important part of your vehicle, as they play a big part in the comfort of your vehicle’s ride, fuel economy and safety. It’s important to regularly check your tires to see if they need to be replaced, as predicting the lifespan of your tires isn’t an easy thing to do.
Factors such as outside temperature, frequency of rotation and inflation pressure can all affect the lifespan of your tires. Other factors include whether you drift or not, how often you stop quickly, the rating of the tire and improper loading of the vehicle.
The lifespan of tires has gone up dramatically since the 1970’s, when the average tires lasted approximately 30,000 kilometres. Nowadays, the average has gone up by almost 100,000 kilometres and could last much longer if you make sure to take care of them.
There are many things you can do to help lengthen the life of your tires such as maintaining the proper tire pressure, carrying a light load and inspecting your tires for cuts or gashes. Taking care of your tires will help you to save money on gas and ensure your safer behind the wheel.
