There isn’t anything much more relaxing than sitting back in a lawn chair and listening to live music on a warm August evening. Local outdoor concerts are a summer staple here in York Region. The friendly community nature of these events make them the perfect place to spend a fun night with the family, neighbours, or even just yourself. From Shania Twain tributes to country classics and soft rock songs, there is a concert to suit anyone and everyone’s musical tastes. Check out these outdoor concerts in your neighborhood this month:

Any Richmond Hill resident is likely familiar with the Mill Pond Concerts. Attending the Thursday evening live performances throughout the summer months has become tradition for many locals who enjoy listening to great music while watching the sun set over the pond. Don’t miss the Tom Jones/Neil Diamond tribute, it’s an annual favourite!
Aurora Concerts in the Park

Grab your lawn chair or picnic blanket and head over to Aurora Town Park for their summer concert series. Food vendors will be on site so you can cool off with an ice cream cone or slushie after spending the evening dancing to Shania Twain’s greatest hits. Admission is free, but don’t forget to take a non-perishable food donation!
Music in the Park – Town of Newmarket

The Town of Newmarket hosts concerts every Sunday night at the Riverwalk Commons and Thursday evenings at Fairy Lake Park throughout the summer. These concerts exclusively feature local talent so this is a great opportunity to hear and support some bands that were formed in your town.
 
Newmarket Music Festival
 
August 25 – 27
 
There is a weekend-long music festival coming to Riverwalk Commons at the end of the month. Every genre of music will be featured throughout the three days as dozens of performances will be spread over two main stages. There will also be entertainment and activities for children as well as a wide variety of food and drink vendors. Tickets are required for admission and you can purchase them online in advance.
