Repairing Hail Damage to your Car

Serious hailstorms can damage the exterior of your vehicle by leaving dents. Depending on how serious it is, you have to spend up to thousands of dollars to fix the damage. Serious damage will definitely require professional service, but if the dent is fairly minimal, you may be able to fix it yourself.

The most popular method to remove dents is to let the car soak in heat. The theory is the heat will cause the dent to pop out when the metal expands. Leave your vehicle outside and let it soak in the sun for a while or heat the dent with a hair dryer. Dry ice can also be used since changing the temperature from cold to hot quickly may pop out the dent as well.

Another way to help get rid of a small dent is with a dent repair kit. These kits are inexpensive and also user friendly so it’s definitely worth checking out. While the kits will most likely take out a small dent, chances are very slim that it will be able to get rid of anything large so it’s best to take your vehicle to a professional in this case.
