5 things to do in the GTA this New Year’s Eve

With Christmas in the rear view, our focus shifts to New Years! For those who have yet to make plans for December 31st, here are a list of fun things to do in the Greater Toronto Area this New Years Eve.
Nathan Phillips Square
First up is the party of all parties in the GTA – the celebration taking place at Nathan Phillips Square, which serves as one of the top New Year’s Eve events in the Canada year after year. With live music, fireworks, and skating opportunities, the party at Nathan Phillips Square is a great way to bring in 2018.
Just make sure to get a spot well before midnight, as The Square tends to get packed around 9-10 p.m.

Newmarket First Night
For those who prefer to do something a little closer to home, the Town of Newmarket is putting together a fun event for the whole family.
Located at the Magna Centre on Mulock Drive, “Newmarket First Night” offers plenty of fun activities throughout the evening, including skating, face painting, and balloon twisting. The best part is, it’s all free!
Both Aurora and Richmond Hill are putting on similar events, so there are plenty of options in the York Region Area.

Ripley’s Aquarium
If you’re looking for a fun night out with your significant other, Ripley’s Aquarium is hosting a New Year’s event this Sunday that will be sure to be memorable. In addition to the normal aquatic displays, Ripley’s is spicing things up by offering hors d’oeuvres, alcohol, and a live DJ.
General admission is a little steep at $90, but you do get coat check and a free drink ticket.
The Infinity Ball
If you’re someone who likes dancing and loud music, The Infinity Ball is right up your alley. Hosted by Toronto-based super group Dwayne Gretzky, the Enercare Centre is sure to be bumping with some of the best tunes of the last several decades being played throughout the evening.
For those who aren’t aware, Dwayne Gretzky (not to be confused with hockey legend Wayne Gretzky) is a cover band that has captivated audiences with its ability to mix both classic and modern pop.
Tickets are currently on sale, so make sure to secure yours before it’s too late.
A Night in Thailand
If you’re single and ready to mingle, Bangkok Garden is the place to be this New Year’s Eve. Get a taste of what it’s like to live in Southeast Asia by checking out A Night in Thailand on Dec. 31st. With a complimentary cocktail, free champagne, and a selfie station, Bangkok Garden is the perfect way to say farewell to 2017.
