Do you really need roadside assistance for your vehicle?

Roadside assistance is one of those things that many motorists don’t realize they need until it’s too late. While it may seem like just another expense if you’ve never been forced to use it before, roadside assistance is the type of insurance that every driver should have.
Here are five reasons why you need roadside assistance:

Flat tire

Unfortunately, flat tires are one of those things that completely pop up out of the blue.  If you can change a flat tire on your own, that’s helpful, but it can still be a dangerous endeavor if the road is busy.  It can also be time consuming with those little jacks that vehicles often come with.
Instead, you can simply call up roadside assistance to solve the problem.  They’re equipped with professional gear that make changing a flat tire quick and easy.

You run low on fuel

Imagine this scenario: You see your tank running low and figure you’ll have enough to fill up at the next gas station. However, you suddenly get stuck in a traffic jam and end up running out of gas before you can reach the station.
This is a completely realistic scenario and one you could run into if you don’t have the proper insurance. Fortunately, roadside assistance will be able to provide you with enough fuel to get to the next gas station if you’re caught stranded. Just remember that you’ll still need to pay for the additional gas.
It should also be noted that running out of fuel can also cause long-term damage to your engine, so it’s better to just pull over and call roadside assistance if there’s risk that you won’t be able to reach the gas station in time.

Locksmith assistance

If you happen to lose your keys, have them stolen, or even lock them in your car/trunk, road assistance will be able to save the day by serving as a locksmith.  Just note that depending on your policy, this may or may not be fully covered. However, it’s almost certain to still be cheaper than covering the cost of a locksmith.
In the future, you may also want to consider owning a second set of keys.

Road trips

There’s nothing that can completely derail your family road trip more than getting stranded on the road. If you’re far enough out of the way, you may not even have any friends or family that are close by.
If you head out on road trips often, you should strongly consider getting roadside assistance if you don’t already have it. It could potentially serve as a trip-saver.

Summer weather

One of the biggest dangers or driving in the summer is the risk of having your vehicle overheat. While you should still pull to the side of the road when your temperature gauge is high, it’s nice to have the peace of mind that you can simply call roadside assistance should your vehicle overheat.
Otherwise, it could be a while before you’re able to continue your trip.
