3 Questions You Should Ask Yourself before Buying a New Vehicle

Before you go out looking to buy a new car, there are a few things you should ask yourself beforehand. Many people end up spending more on new vehicles when a used vehicle would’ve been better for them based on their preferences. Read ahead to learn the 3 questions you should ask yourself before buying new.

The first thing you should ask is how much money you are willing/able to spend up front. If you are looking for a low down payment, you will prefer to buy new since it is usually cheaper. However, the less you pay as a down payment, the more you will have to pay in interest. If a lower interest payment is more preferable to you, you should buy used.

Another question you should ask yourself is how important the latest safety and convenience features are to you. For some they are very important and are worth paying the extra money for. Others may find them pointless or not worth the money, which would make buying used the better option for them.

The final question you should ask yourself is how long you plan on keeping the vehicle for. If you plan on trading it in over the next few years, you won’t get great value on it compared to what you paid for it. It’s better to buy used if you don’t plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time. However, if you plan on owing the vehicle for many years down the road, buying new would appear to be the better option.
