5 New Year's Resolutions for your Car

New Year's Resolutions for your Car

Here are 5 New Year’s resolutions for you and your car

With 2017 officially behind us, now is the perfect time to capitalize on the New Year and make improvements.  While making a resolution or two for yourself is always popular, it’s also a good idea to make a few for your vehicle – especially considering how much the average person relies on theirs.
Here are five New Year’s resolutions you should make for your car:
Maintain it regularly
You’ve likely heard this a thousand times before, but regular maintenance is the best way to ensure your car lasts for a long time. Sure, skipping out on an oil change or two may save you some extra cash in the short run, but failing to maintain your car will eventually upset the automotive karma gods who may sting you in the worst way possible.
Make a maintenance schedule and stick to it. It’s better to spend the money now, and not when you’re stranded on the side of the road.
Be more patient
Road rage and aggressive driving are two of the most dangerous problems on the road today. If another driver is getting on your nerves, take a deep breath and relax. At the end of the day, getting back at another driver isn’t worth the risk of getting into an accident.
If you know you’re an aggressive driver, try to make a point of leaving earlier to ensure you’re not in a rush and can afford a longer commute.
Get rid of excess weight
Thankfully, your car doesn’t need to go to the gym to shed a few pounds. If you find that you’re spending more than you used to at the pump, it’s entirely possible that you’re carrying too much excess weight.
Go through your vehicle and get rid of anything that isn’t essential. Shedding unnecessary weight can help improve fuel efficiency.
Keep the interior fresh
How many times have you told yourself that you’re finally going to clean your vehicle, only to find yourself still looking at the mess weeks later?
Spend an hour and completely clean your car’s interior. Get rid of any garbage, vacuum any dirt and debris, and give your upholstery a good clean. If your vehicle is starting to give off a foul odur, give it a little extra attention or consider dropping it off at the auto-spa for a good deep clean.
Get any issues diagnosed right away
Don’t wait until you or a loved one is stranded on the side of the highway somewhere – when problems arise bring your vehicle in to have it looked at and fixed. An ounce of prevention goes a looong way!
