7 Tips to Speedier Car-Buying
7 steps to speed up the car-buying process
Buying a new vehicle is a big decision, but that doesn’t mean everyone wants to spend a lengthy amount of time at the dealership. While you should always perform the proper due diligence when buying a vehicle, there are some steps to speed up the process.
Here are a few tips:
Decide on a budget
You’ll spend a lot less time deciding what vehicle to purchase if you give yourself a small range of what you’d like to spend. Pick a range and stick with it. If a vehicle isn’t within that range, there’s no reason to spend time looking at. You’ll be a lot more efficient at the dealership this way.
Bring all the paperwork with you
Remember to bring the proper paperwork with you whenever you step into a dealership. This means bringing your driver’s license, recent pay stubs, job letter and proof of insurance.
Be open with the salespeople
A salesperson won’t know what you want unless you tell them. Remember to give as much detail as possible, as this will only help them in presenting you with an option that fits your criteria.
Clean out your old vehicle
If you’re trading in your old vehicle, make sure to remove all your personal belongings before you bring it in. You’ll end up wasting 15-to-20 minutes at the dealership cleaning everything out otherwise. Side benefit, a clean vehicle will show better – every little bit helps during the appraisal!
Remember that if you’re trading in your vehicle, you’ll also need the proper documentation to prove you own it.
Get pre-approved for a loan
If you receive pre-approval for a loan beforehand, you won’t have to worry about waiting for a loan from a financial institution while you’re at the dealership.
As long as you have the documentation showing what you can afford it, the dealership will only need to spend time contacting the financial institution to confirm.
Quick and easy.
Bring your research with you
If you’ve done the proper due diligence ahead of time, make sure to print off your research and bring it with you. Not only will the salesperson know exactly what you’re looking for, but you won’t have to worry about forgetting any important information.
Go on a weekday
Dealerships are typically much busier on weekends since most people are off work. As a result, the process may take longer. If you want your vehicle delivered in a shorter amount of time, consider going into the dealership on a weekday.
