Mike Roy-Diclemente – RoboFest

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s time to kick off the 2016 Awesome Foundation and we could’t think of a more awesome recipient. Mike Roy-Diclemente, a local high school teacher is going the distance in his field of computer science to promote and encourage STEM learning in elementary schools with Robofest. This competition/ event will be a place where students can learn about STEM tech and show their skills!

When asked about his inspiration Mike said that he’s noticed the lack of access to STEM skills in elementary schools, and by the time the students get to High school it’s often too late (I can attest to that). With the introduction of robotics and technology at a younger age Mike hopes to develop career exposure that is not normally accessible. Another exciting thing that Mike is hoping to achieve is to recruit girls into the world of STEM. That’s certainly something we 100% support. In the automotive world some of the major leaders are females (Hello Mary Barra CEO of GM). We can’t wait to see this awesomeness unfold!
