NewRoads proudly supports the 11th annual Tour de Speed

Tour du Speed

On Saturday, June 3rd at the North Union Community Centre in Queensville, ON was the 11th annual Tour de Speed, presented by Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club.  NewRoads is a proud sponsor of this event encouraging riders between the ages of 9 and 18.  The event had an OCA (Ontario Cycling Association) record field for a youth event with 122 registered riders.
A special guest joined in the fun – our NewRoads LakeRide ambassador and Canadian cycling champion Ed Veal. Ed was at the starting line during the Time trials offering coaching and motivation to the riders. After the racing at the medal ceremony he gave a great motivational speech.

It was great to see the community come together to support this inspiring event.  NewRoads would like to thank the Newmarket Eagles president Dean Robertson for including NewRoads year after year.  Watching it grow over the years has been wonderful and you can count on NewRoads for years to come.

Tour du Speed and NewRoads

“The 11th annual Tour de Speed was a great success, we had an Ontario youth race record crowd of 122 registrations with racers coming from as far away as Windsor and Ottawa. The weather was perfect for racing, the temperature was in the low 20s, sunny and no wind.  Racing started at 9:01 and didn’t stop until 12:45 with ten separate races taking place. There were two new format changes this year, the maximum age changed from 16 to 18 years old, but the most exciting was that groups were based on ability and not on gender. Proving the girls are just as fast the boys was 12 year old Mia Till of the Midweek Cycling Club from Toronto, she won silver in her group racing 3 kms in 3:27, three seconds behind the winner. Next years’ race is already scheduled for June 9th! The Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club are grateful for the support we receive from Michael Croxon, Kelly Broome, and The NewRoads Automotive Group. ”
