What to do if your car Overheats
Although rare, it is possible that your car can overheat, especially in hotter weather. It’s important to know what to if you happen to be in this situation, as doing so will help keep you safe and lessen the damage to your vehicle.
As soon as you see your car overheats, you should turn off the air conditioning and roll down the windows. This takes pressure off the engine and helps to cool it down. If it doesn’t cool down enough, you should turn on the heater and blower as this will transfer the heat from the engine to the passenger compartment.
If you can still make it to your destination safely by driving, avoid riding the brakes as this will put added pressure on your engine. If you cannot continue driving, pull over to the right hand side of the road and open your hood until your engine has cooled down enough.
It’s important not to add water to the engine if you think your vehicle will boil over. Wait until everything has cool down you can add water slowly while the car is in park or neutral
