What causes Car Skidding? | Car Tips

Car Skidding

Many accidents occur when a car starts to skid and the driver loses control of the vehicle as a result. Skidding is more likely to occur in the winter when it’s icy and slippery outside. Therefore, it’s important to know how to avoid skidding so you can stay safe behind the wheel over the next few months.

The easiest way to avoid skidding is to have the proper tires for your vehicle. Winter tires are basically a necessity for Canadian winters. You would be foolish not to change your tires during the winter as your chances of an accident will increase dramatically if you don’t.

If the weather is poor outside, you should slow down since the faster you go on a wet road, the higher the chance you will slip. If you happen to get into a skid, remember to remain calm. The best way to get out of a skid is to steer your car in the direction of the skid. This will help you gain control of your vehicle as you ease off the accelerator. Following these steps will get you out of the skid as soon as possible.
