Extending the Life of Your Vehicle
Getting the most out of your vehicle involves proper maintenance and responsible driving. Good driving habits will not only increase the salvage value of your vehicle, but it will also mean fewer trips to the mechanic’s.
The easiest way to extend the life of your vehicle is not to use it for short trips. The engine oil never reaches a temperature high enough to boil off the moisture inside during short car rides which makes the oil thicker and stick together like tar. Try your best to walk or ride a bike when you can instead of using your car.
Frequent stopping and starting of your vehicle is tough on your engine and can cause premature problems for it. Try to plan your route so you can avoid stopping and starting as much as possible.
You should never drive fast for the first few kilometers of your trip. Your vehicle’s engine and transmission are more susceptible to damage if your fluids are not warm so it’s important to take it easy at the beginning of your drive.
Responsible driving habits will not only make you a safer and better driver, but they will help to extend the life of your vehicle and avoid constant trips to the mechanic’s.
