How often should I check my oil?
Have a look in your owners manual. Did you know it’s your responsibility
to check your oil level every time you fill your gas tank?
In this day and age of reduced extended maintenance intervals
checking your fluid levels (especially your oil) is more important than ever.
Here’s why :
In past, vehicles were equipped an OLM system (Oil Life Monitor) and you would typically visit your Dealer every 3 months or 5,000 kms to have a LOF (Lube, Oil and Filter) change.
Your local dealer would also check all fluids, performs a visual inspection of your vehicle,
checks for recalls and updates and recommend any additional services required.
So if you hadn’t checked your oil in that time period, it was no biggie.
Today, that interval has changed to an OLM message on your dash – not checking your
oil level is a recipe for disaster – engine damage due to low oil is not covered by Warranty.
Here at NewRoads GM we want you in every 6 months or 12,000 kms so that we can perform
a Multipoint Inspection and tire rotation at the same time as your LOF. This saves you time as we perform both services in one convenient visit.
So remember to pop that hood and check your oil.
