How to Save Money on Gas | Car Tips
You have probably heard many things over the years on how to save money on fuel. While a lot of the stuff you hear is true, there are also some fuel saving myths. It’s important to note what is true and what isn’t so you can get the most out of your costly gas.
The easiest way to save money on fuel is to drive smoothly. Accelerating and braking causes you to waste gas by a significant portion. You should also avoid putting things on the top of your vehicle as this will increase drag and as a result, fuel consumption. Finally, you should only use premium gas for your vehicle if the engine requires this type of fuel.
Filling up in the morning to save money is one of the most popular myths out there. The difference is negligible so you don’t have to worry about rushing to a gas station in the morning. Also, changing your air filter will not get you better gas mileage. While you will see an increase in acceleration, your air/fuel ratio will remain unchanged which is why it doesn’t make a difference to your fuel economy.
