Hybrid Car Batteries | Car Tips

If you happen to own or are interested in buying a hybrid vehicle, you know that they have batteries that only last a short period of time (approximately 150,000 kilometres). Therefore, it’s a good idea to find ways to help extend Hybrid car batteries as replacing one can be quite costly.
The easiest way to extend battery life is to coast while you drive. Your vehicle produces kinetic energy while you coast and this helps to charge and cycle the battery. Just by simply putting your car in neutral and not braking too early, the life of your battery will be extended fairly significantly. However, don’t forget to be aware of other vehicles and obstacles around you while you have your car in neutral.
One cool thing about hybrid vehicles is that the gas engine will shut off when you stop, allowing your car to just run on electricity. This means that if you press your pedal lightly when you start up again, you can run on electricity for a bit and avoid restarting the gas engine. Not only will this method help to extend your battery life but it will also improve fuel efficiency, saving you even more money.
