How to make your vehicle safer in poor weather | Car Tips

 
Driving is not always optimal due to the weather outside. If it’s raining or snowing, we have to adjust how we drive to help reduce the chances of getting into an accident. However, there are ways to make our vehicle safer during foul weather, which will help to reduce risk even more.
 
The first thing is to do a maintenance check of your vehicle. Check all your fluids (oil, brake, transmission, coolant), windshield wipers, lights and exhaust system to ensure your vehicle is in the proper shape to drive under any condition. Also, ensure your tires are not underinflated, as you’ll need the best grip possible when driving on a slippery surface.
 
It may be a good idea to have sand or salt on you in case you get stuck. While road salt helps melt the ice away, sand will give your tires better grip and will hopefully get you out of the snow.
 
Finally, you should have an emergency kit with you with things such as jumper cables, an ice scraper, small shovel and first aid kit. Your safety should be your number one concern when you step into a vehicle, so you should do everything in your power to help reduce the risk of getting into an accident.
