Mazda Goes Interactive for SXSW 2015

Mazda Mogees Interactive SXSW 2015
Taking on the gamer culture and music culture all in one, Mazda takes South by Southwest (SXSW) by storm with an interactive approach.
Mazda quite literary puts their (future) customers in the drivers seat with their recent partnership with Microsoft Xbox. In this partnership Mazda allowed gamers to design their own version of the Mazda Miata for the Xbox game Forza Horizon 2. Over 500 gamers created brand-new looks for the 1994 MX-5 Miata to be submitted to the contest. The winning car was announced on March 15th at SXSW in Austin Texas, which will now be an option within the game.

The vice president of marketing, Russell Wager, explains that the contest allowed Mazda to interact with fans as well as give the company a wealth of consumer insight. “We use the game to see which cars gamers are using and which colors they’re choosing.” Those insights can have real-world applications for product design. “It’s kind of our own little laboratory,” he said.  Mazda you sneaky devil you!
Another incredibly cool aspect that Mazda is taping into at SXSW is with another partnership with Mogees, a start up that turns everyday objects into musical instruments. This exhibit turned the Mazda 3 into a connected recording studio. Users created customized songs by taping and interacting with the car that are then recorded onsite and immediately sharable! SO COOL!

I really think that Mazda has hit the nail on the head with these incredibly different, unique and current collaborations that are for sure to generate buzz and excitement for their brand!
