Rain or Shine at the Newmarket Famer's Market
Summer just isn’t summer without a visit to the Newmarket Famer’s Market, even if the forecast calls for thunderstorms. Supporting local and eating fresh is easy when you have one of the best farmer’s markets around. I love that you can buy the best of the best here, from the prettiest flowers, to honey, and fresh bread – you can even grab a tasty tray of Chinese food if you’re in the mood! Eating in-season veggies and being surrounded by your community make Saturday mornings way better.
It’s a shame that this amazing market is over after summer ends so we have to soak it up while it’s still here. Why does summer even have to end? Never the less the sense of community is in the air with every visit to the Newmarket Farmer’s Market. You see families, dedicated weekly visitors along with first time attendees. Market shopping lets you see whom and where your food is coming from giving you that feel-good reassurance.
On the edge of the market you can also find Newmarket’s infamous HollisWealth Story Pod, with its ‘take a book leave a book honour system’ the story pod promotes community sharing and it’s one of the first of its kind. Visitors are encouraged to be inspired and engage with their community – to open their minds to different possibilities. Who knows, you might even find your next favourite book!
Borrowing the new 2016 Chevy Cruze for the trip could not have been a better. The Cruze’s reverse camera made getting out of the tight parking on Main Street this market-morning a breeze. When the rain started to pour the keyless entry aided our quick escape into the Cruze. All you have to do is have the key fob on you and ta-da – open sesame! The interior was LUSH to say the least, I honestly felt like I was driving a luxury car. It had everything from touch screen infotainment and a slanted dash to the most comfortable leather seats (I was in love). I could easily see my self-driving one of these!
I can’t wait to visit the market again! Farmers feed cities!
