Preparing for Winter Road Trips
A lot is made about road trips in the summer because of the hot weather and beautiful vacation destinations, however, winter road trips require just as much preparation. Read ahead to learn some of the things you should do before going on your winter road trip.
If you don’t already have winter tires, it is vital that you install them before going on the trip. Although you should have them anyway for the winter, because of the large amount of driving you’ll be doing, it is simply not safe to have regular tires for you trip.
In addition, there are some items/tools you should take in case you end up stuck in an emergency situation on the road. You should have a shovel, tow chain and sand handy in case you get stuck in the snow. You should also have extra clothing, food and blankets in case you’re stranded for a long period of time.
Finally, you have a thorough maintenance check done before you leave. This should include checking to make sure the lights are working, ensuring the battery isn’t corroding and inspecting all fluids. Doing this will significantly lower the chances of a breakdown on your trip.
