How to Remove a Scratch From Your Vehicle
Having a scratch on your vehicle can be one of the most devastating things for car owners. Fortunately, if you’re good with your hands and pay close attention to detail, you can actually remove the scratch yourself. Read below to see how.
First, you’ll need to figure out how deep the scratch actually is. If you can still see the vehicle’s colour, you should be ok. If you see steel or a different colour, then your scratch is deep. The deeper the scratch, the harder it will be to remove it.
Next, make sure to wash and dry the area around the scratch thoroughly. This will remove any debris that has gotten into the scratch. After, you can sand the scratch with P2000 abrasive sand paper and follow that by rinsing and drying again.
One the vehicle is dry, you should apply a rubbing compound to the area to remove any scratches caused by the sand paper. If the rubbing compound is still wet, buffer the area for about 10 seconds on low. Then once again, rinse and dry.
Finally, you’ll need to wax the area and then buff the surface. This is the last step so continue to buff until your car looks good as new!
