Korea’s Kia Motors has earned its spot as the fastest growing car company in North America through the simple formula of offering more content for less money. The new 2014 Forte unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show carries on that tradition.
Forte is Kia’s entry in the crowded compact sedan segment and the all new third generation model offers more space, more performance and more premium features. It will come in LX and EX trims and gives buyers a choice of inline-4 engines and a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The base 1.8L engine makes 148-horsepower and the 2.0L engine (standard in EX) produces 173-hp.
Forte’s new European-inspired design rides on an all-new chassis that is longer, lower and wider.
“The all-new Forte significantly raises the bar, offering upscale amenities and eye-catching appeal,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing & communications, Kia Motors America. “When you combine exclusive available features like a ventilated driver’s seat and UVO eServices in a car with such an attractive design, it’s very clear the all-new Forte sets a new standard for the compact segment.”
Forte LX model has standard steering wheel mounted audio controls, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth wireless technology, power windows, air conditioning and power heated outside mirrors. An Eco Package includes Kia’s ISG (Idle Stop & Go) system.
Forte EX adds standard equipment such as Kia’s next-generation UVO in-vehicle infotainment system with eServices, remote keyless entry with trunk opener, rear camera, sliding centre armrest and a cooling glove box.

Premium amenities such as a steering system that lets the driver choose from Comfort, Normal or Sport settings, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, push button start and heated steering wheel are optional.
The stylish new Forte was conceived at Kia’s American Design Center in Irvine, Calif. and will go on sale early in 2013.
