Steps following an Accident | Car Tips
There are always more car accidents during the winter months as the conditions are rarely optimal and many drivers aren’t willing to adjust their driving for the snowy weather. If you happen to get into an accident, here are some tips/steps following an accident.
Obviously the first thing you should do is call 911 if you have a phone, even if you don’t think the accident is too serious. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
If possible you should place cones or other warning signals around the accident so other drivers can see it far ahead and avoid causing a bigger crash. Get out of your vehicle and stay a safe distance away from the accident.
While you should trade driver’s license and insurance with the other driver(s), never reveal your insurance limit or any other financial data you may have.
If there’s any witnesses around you should get their name and number. They may come in handy if the accident is taken to court. You should also draw a detailed picture of the accident yourself so you can remember every detail about it.
