It’s Strawberry Season
Strawberry picking is a family must and now it’s the perfect time of year to get picking. Enjoy a great day with the family and enjoy these tips courtesy of our NewRoads Crew!
Strawberry Picking Tips
Bring sunscreen, hats, bug spray and comfortable shoes. This can be a little messy so plan on clothing that can get dirty. Bring your own basket to be on the safe side and don’t overfill.
Pick strawberries off the bush by twisting at the stem.
Call in advance to be sure your farm is open for the day and that they have berries in good supply. Typically Strawberry season runs from mid June ending sometime in July.
Cleaning: Rinse your strawberries in a mixture of water and vinegar to kill off any molds or spores that can be on the surface, this will make your strawberries last up to whole week longer. Store your strawberries in the fridge.
