Summer Maintenance Tips for your Car

If you’re planning on going on a road trip this summer or even just drive your vehicle a lot commuting to and from work, it’s a good idea to ensure your vehicle is properly maintained. Not only will it extend the lifetime of your vehicle, but it can also prevent bigger problems from occurring down the road.

The summer heat can cause your battery to overcharge, drastically decreasing the lifespan of it. However, you can easily prevent this from happening just by wiping off the terminals to ensure it’s clean around the battery. Make sure your battery is securely in place after you’ve cleaned it.

One of the best ways to improve fuel efficiency is by changing your air filter. With gas prices higher in the summer, it’s even more necessary you do whatever you can to save on fuel. It’s a good idea to have your air filter changed about every 20,000-25000 kilometers.

Finally, you should make sure your tires are properly inflated and have a good tread on them. If not you should have them replaced. Not only will they help you to improve gas mileage, but they will also play a big factor and making sure you stay safe behind the wheel.
