If you’re a novice when it comes to cars, chances are you don’t know the difference between the different types of SUV’s. Read ahead to learn what to look for in a SUV so you can be better equipped when you’re looking to buy one.
There are three main types of SUV’s; compact, mid-size and full-size. The bigger the vehicle, the more expensive it is. However, bigger vehicle also offer more cargo space, so you should find something that works for you and your family when you’re considering size.
It’s also important to note the differences between 2WD, 4WD and AWD. Two-wheel drive (2WD) means that the power is provided by either the front or the rear tires. Four-wheel drive means that the power is distributed evenly among the four tires. Alternatively, you can get all-wheel drive (AWD) which provides power to the wheels with the most traction.
Finally, the larger the vehicle, the higher the operating and fuel costs will be. Engines have to work harder with heavier vehicles, which means you could be spending a lot more on gas and maintenance if you plan on driving a full-size vehicle. If the extra money is a big concern to you, consider purchasing a compact SUV.
