Tips for Shortening Your Commute

Commute Tips
With the winter now here, many drivers are looking for ways to decrease their daily commute time during the long, cold months. Here are some tips that will help lower the time it takes for you to get to work.
The easiest thing to do is talk to your boss about whether you can come and leave work during off-peak hours. This could mean working 8-4 or 10-6, instead of your regular 9-5 shift.
Another suggestion is to listen to the radio during your commute. If you’re listening to the traffic updates regularly, you’ll be able to switch your route to avoid congested roads.
Many studies have shown that it is quicker if you avoid as many left-hand turns as possible. Look at a map and plan a route that increases the number of right-hand turns you take to help speed up your route to work.
Finally, consider carpooling with one or two other friends or co-workers. This will allow you to take the HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) lanes. If you do a lot of highway driving on your commute, this could greatly decrease the time of getting to work.
