New drivers are much more likely to get into an accident than drivers with five or more years’ experience. Although this is partly due to their lack of experience, another reason is that teenage drivers are not as responsible. Touching the radio is one of the easiest ways to get distracted while driving. Instead of constantly choosing the best song on at the time, pick a station and stick with it for the length of the trip. This will prevent you from constantly searching while you’re driving.
 
Another thing you should do is to make sure you’re not checking your cell phone. While turning it off altogether may not be a good idea in case of an emergency, you should not be checking it when you’re driving. Pull over to check your messages if need be.
 
Finally, make sure to always keep your hands on the wheel when you drive. Adjust your mirrors and seat before you start driving. This will prevent you from fidgeting with these things on the road.
